[LA BOURDONNAYE (Alain de)]. Original woodcut. - Lot 142
[LA BOURDONNAYE (Alain de)]. Original woodcut. Woodcut featuring a weasel (20 x 12.5 cm) as an illustration for the collection "Histoires naturelles" by Jules RENARD (Paris, [Alain de la Bourdonnaye], 2008). "La Belette. Poor, but clean, distinguished, it passes and repasses, by small jumps, on the road, and goes, from one ditch to another, to give, from hole to hole, its lessons with the seal." J. Renard. Enclosed is an invitation to the exhibition "Dix histoires naturelles et dix métamorphoses des animaux échappés du bestiaire de Jules Renard gravées par Alain de la Bourdonnaye" presented in May 2008 at Librairie Les Argonautes in Paris. Alain de La Bourdonnaye (1930-2016) was a French painter, engraver, publisher and printer. Initially rooted in lyrical abstraction, he turned to artist's books in the late 1970s. He produced some thirty works.
