The most complete edition of this esteemed work, the first French translation, by J. B. Le Mascrier, Charles Le Beau & l'abbé Des Fontaines (Brunet V 841.) A fine copy bearing the coat of arms, at the tail of the spine, of Henri de RIOLLET, Comte de MORTEUIL (1704 - 1793), who belonged to an old family established in Burgundy since the 15th century. A page in the Versailles Grande Ecurie between 1714 and 1724, he was squire to Louis XV in 1747, then cornette in the Gramont regiment and captain in the Limousin regiment.
