"These commentaries are the result of a close collaboration with Nicolas Des Gallars. Calvin sums up the situation in a letter to Francisco Enzinas dated March 7, 1550: 'My Meditations on Isaiah that you are waiting for, you tell me, will soon come out, but written by Des Gallars. Because I don't have enough time to write. But he takes note of them while I'm teaching, then writes them up at home. I read them again, and where he has not followed my thought correctly, I restore it better' (O.C., t.13, col.536)", R. Peter & J.F. Gilmont, Bibliotheca Calviniana, 51/6.
Handwritten bookplates, Guildford Theological Library label to upper flyleaf.
